Apple iPhone support issues - TB8383

The ATS Help Desk is currently unable to provide direct support for the Apple iPhone; however, the following information may provide initial help for some iPhone issues.

Apple's iPhone Support Page

The following is a link to the Apple support page for the iPhone. Most troubleshooting information should be available there.

Mac Mail configuration

Configuring an iPhone or an iPod Touch for use with mail.msu.edu is very similar to setting up the Mac Mail application provided as part of the MacOS software. Refer to TB9220 for more information.

Note that iPhone mail server info must be entered in the server:port format; for example, mail.msu.edu:465.

iPhone and MSUnet Wireless

Occasionally the authentication page will not load properly. You may have to open up a new web page from within Safari. You can do this by tapping the new page button in the lower right hand corner of the screen. The authentication page should load properly in this new web page.

When you log in and leave the phone idle for a period of time, Safari may not load any web pages. It will seem as if you need to authenticate, but the authentication page will not load. Turning the 802.11 radio on and off will usually resolve this problem. To turn off the radio select settings -> Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off. Wait a few minutes and then turn it back on again.
