Overview

This document will help you set up MSUnet Wireless access on your on-campus PC running Windows Vista, with a compatible wireless card installed.

NOTE: It is mandatory that you must have Javascript enabled for MSUnet Wireless access. This should already be enabled, as it is by default in most browsers.

Step 1.1: Selecting the MSUnet Wireless network

In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, right click the network icon and select Connect to a network.Connect to a Network

Click the MSUnet Wireless connection to select, then click Connect to connect.Pick a Wireless Network

Step 2: Connect to the MSUnet Wireless network

A progress indicator displays, while the wireless network card works to access the network.Connecting

Step 3: You are now Connected

When the wireless card successfully connects you will get the following prompt. Click Close.Succesfully Connected

Step 4: MSUnet Wireless Access login

After you have configured your network settings, you must use a web browser to authenticate your computer with MSUnet Wireless for full network access. Each time you log into MSUnet Wireless, you remain authenticated for as long as you use the connection. Authentication times out after 8 hours of inactivity; you will only have to log in after having not been connected to the Internet for 8 hours.

To register your computer, follow the instructions below.
  1. Close all open windows and launch your Web browser.
  2. Browse to http://wireless.msu.edu/. If your browser displays the requested webpage then you are already connected. Otherwise, you will be redirected to the MSU wireless authentication page.page.
  3. Accept certificate for "this session only" * Note: different browsers display the certificate uniquely. For examples of what you should see when viewing a certificate, please click here.
  4. Log in using your MSU NetID and password.

If you logged in successfully, you should briefly see the following screen before being automatically redirected to the original website you entered in Step 5.Succesfull Login
