Overview
The Service Status System uses three Listservs to notify users of service alerts : "Service Status General", "Service Status Detailed" and "Service Status Alerts Only". A description of each can be found below along with instructions on how to subscribe and unsubscribe to each list.The Service Status General ListServ:
Listserv name: servicestatgen (recommended for most individuals)
This list will email subscribers when a service alert or scheduled maintenance (including emergency maintenance is first entered into the Service Status System and when a service alert or scheduled maintenance (including emergency maintenance)is closed. The first email will provide customers with the initial information about the event and instruct them to visit http://servicestatus.msu.edu/ when they desire additional information about the event. The second email will inform the subscribers of the list when a service alert has been closed. This email will include approximate start and ending times for the event and a brief description on how the problem was resolved.
To subscribe to this list send an email to listserv@list.msu.edu with the following text in the first line of the body of the message:
You will receive a confirmation email along with instructions on how to complete the subscription.
The Service Status Detailed ListServ:
Listserv name: servicestatdetThis list acts much the same as the General list with the addition that it will email subscribers each time an update is made to an event. This list will likely generate more emails than are desired for most customers but is provided as an option for individuals who wish to be informed each time any information is updated about an event.
To subscribe to this list send an email to listserv@list.msu.edu with the following text in the first line of the body of the message:
You will receive a confirmation email along with instructions on how to complete the subscription.
The Service Status Alerts Only ListServ:
Listserv name: servicestatalrtThis list will email subscribers when a service alert or emergency maintenance is first entered into the Service Status System and when a service alert or emergency maintenance is closed. The first email will provide customers with the initial information about the event and instruct them to visit http://servicestatus.msu.edu/ when they desire additional information about the event. The second email will inform the subscribers of the list when a service alert has been closed. This email will include approximate start and ending times for the event and a brief description on how the problem was resolved. No notifications will be sent for non-emergency scheduled maintenance events.
