Academic Computing and Network Services hires full-time staff on occasion and students on a regular basis. An applicant for student employment must be a currently-registered MSU student.Student Employment: ATS Help Desk Staff
The ATS Help Desk is currently accepting applications for student computer consultants.Duties include:
- Assisting MSU users with general computer software and hardware problems.
- Walk-in, phone, and e-mail support for network connectivity issues (including ethernet, dial-up, and MSUnet Wireless).
- Providing ISP-level support for MSU users for e-mail, web/AFS, FTP and other related Internet issues.
- Diagnosing and advising on issues stemming from virus and spyware problems on Windows computers.
- General disk repair for Windows and Macintosh computers.
- Some programming and program maintenance abilities.
- Expertise with Windows and/or Mac platforms (use and knowledge of both platforms are a plus).
- Must have ability to expertly pick up new Operating Systems as they are released.
- Experience with networking (dialup, ethernet, wireless, TCP/IP, winsock, etc).
- Experience with consulting in person or by phone.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, web design expertise and programming skills highly desired.

Student Employment: MSU Computer Store Sales Associate
The MSU Computer Store is staffed by a helpful and knowledgeable student staff who can assist MSU Faculty, staff, and students with purchase decisions on products that are available through the MSU Computer Store. This is achieved on the phone, on line, and one-on-one in the Store. The ideal candidate will have one or more of the listed job requirements.Duties
- Walk-in and telephone calls involving sales of microcomputer systems.
- Produce sale flyers, competitive analysis, and signage for point-of- sale displays.
- Assist with development and preparation of Computer Store Back-to-School flyer and monthly newsletter.
- Customer Satisfaction follow-up
- Help coordinate and give Computer Store demos in locations throughout campus.
- Assisting with Computer Store sales analysis and exploring long-term marketing opportunities for departmental and personal sales.
Experience in one of the following areas is strongly desired for employment:
- Sales/Marketing Background and customer service experience
- General computer knowledge, experience and interest required; experience beyond entry-level
- Knowledge of Windows 95 and Windows 3.11, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
- Pagemaker and Photoshop experience helpful for producing point of sale signage and other promotional material.
- Good communication skills and self-motivation extremely important!

Student Employment: ATS Computer Classroom Support Staff
ATS Computer Classroom Service Staff provide support for the computer classrooms on campus.Duties
- Performing quality control checks in labs, troubleshooting and reporting equipment failures for lab computers and printers are some of the tasks involved with the job.

Shifts are also available for opening labs in the mornings, closing labs in the evening, and stocking printer supplies.
- We are looking for students with a variety of skills. Advancement opportunities are available for students who are aggressive workers and self starters.
- Graphic software packages, web design expertise and programming skills are a plus!
