Overview
This article explains how to clear the cache and delete cookies for the most common internet browsers.
Firefox - Windows and MacOS X
- Click on the "Tools" menu
- Click on "Clear Private Data" or "Clear Recent History
- For "Time range to clear", choose "Everything"
- Expand the "Details" area if necessary
- In the pop up window, check "Cache", "Cookies", and anything else you'd like to clean
- Click "Clear Private Data Now" or "Clear Now"
Safari - MacOS X
- Click the "Safari" menu
- Click "Empty Cache..."
- In the pop up window, press "Empty"
Internet Explorer 8 and 9 - Windows
- Select the "Tools" menu (8) or the gear-shaped icon (9)
- Click on "Internet Options"
- In the pop up window, click "Delete" under the "Browsing history" section
- In the pop up window, check "Temporary Internet files" and "Cookies"
- Press "Delete" to confirm deleting the files
- Press the "Close" button to close the window
Internet Explorer 7 - Windows
- Select the "Tools" menu
- Click on "Delete Browsing History..."
- In the pop up, press the top three buttons, or the "Delete all..." button if you want to delete stored passwords as well
- Press "Yes" to confirm deleting the files
- Press the "Close" button to close the window
Google Chrome - MacOS
- Click on the "Chrome" menu item
- Select "Clear Browsing Data" from the drop down menu
- Select the period of time you want cleared (Last hour, last day, etc.)
- Click on the "Clear Browsing Data" button
Google Chrome - Windows
- Click on the "wrench" icon in the upper right corner of the browser window
- Select "Options" from the drop down menu
- Click the "Under the Hood" tab
- Click on the "Clear Browsing Data" button next to "Privacy"
- From the pop-up, select the period of time you want cleared (Last hour, last day, etc.)
- Select 'Empty the Cache', 'Delete Cookies...' and any other data you would like to remove
- Click on the "Clear Browsing Data" button
- Click "Close"
